Total Assault On The Culture — November 2020

It’s been a truly mad month.

I’ve managed to drive through almost everything without spilling a drop of coffee in my lap but there’s still work to do. We have managed to find a temporary home for the rehearsal space at Muthers Studio and the work continues by hook or by crook on Cosmic Trigger III audio book read by Oliver Senton. We haven’t found the way out of here yet but I remain positive, there’s a lot to do. This place has got everything.

In the past month hundreds of Grassroots Music Venues across the country had their immediate fate decided for them by the government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

It’s funny how this time last year, many music venues and promoters were like “Get your gear out by 11pm, theres a club night on, we need your band and all your equipment out in 45 minutes.” Many venues were like “We will take 20% of your merch sales plus VAT. And no you don’t get a cut of the bar takings. No, there’s no hot food, just a few sandwiches and crisps. You can buy your own drinks and hot food from the bar or failing that go and find food at any of the take away places nearby. We don’t have the budget for your group to eat…but we do insist you play…and finish on time.
